Gabriel's Completed Nursery :)
Pay no attention to the pregnant woman in the mirror. ;) Surrounding the mirror are pictures of Gabriel's family. We thought it would be nice for him to see them everyday since most of them live so far off that sadly he will only see them once in a while.
The next three paintings are done by me, but are based on illustrations drawn by John Lennon (yes, The Beatle). Along with his music and his quest for peace he was also known for his illustrations. While I was in high school and college Carter's had a line of John Lennon baby items. My mom bought me several items because we knew by the time I had kids they wouldn't be around any longer (oh yeah, did I mention I love John Lennon?). One of the things she bought was some room border. Originally I was going to paint the characters on the wall itself, but something I saw on TV made me think that was not an idea worth pursuing (I can explain later if you really want me to.) So I decided to water color them. I think they turned out well. (Oh, and I did the frames too.)
Originally I made a ribbon board to go here (see below) but I got so many cute little items for the baby room (Pewter mug and rattle, Peter Rabbit mug, little elephant from Italy, "On the Night You Were Born," and a Precious Moments mommy that I decided they all needed to be displayed proudly. Hence these shelves (which I have had for the last 3 1/2 years, but never used.)
Over the last few months you have seen the curtains and crib skirt (and also a couple of pillows) that my Mother-in-Law, Cherlyn, made. The best of all is the matching quilt. :) It is so beautiful and cozy. Brian loved it so much it brought tears to his eyes. I just love that everything in this room is either made by or provided by family and friends...it feels like a big hug when you walk in.
The bed is made and ready for Gabriel. :) The Ocean Wonders mobile is so fun...it shines stars and fish on the ceiling while it spins and of course plays music. :)
