Happy 2nd Birthday, Gabriel!

2 years ago the most amazing little boy joined our family.  He is kind, generous, caring, shy, funny, smart, adorable, meticulous, and all around amazing.  :)  We are so lucky to be his parents.  To think of all of the waiting we did...God knew what he was doing making me wait so long for someone as wonderful as Gabriel.  I was worried that with all of the craziness Gabriel's birthday would be a bit boring.  But, not so.  We got the week out to a fun start with some jumping in the paper...
You see, when you move you have massive quantities of boxes and paper.  Well, the next best thing to jumping in to leaf piles (sorry, Buddy...you won't get to do that here...we don't have trees in our yard) is jumping into huge piles of paper.  At least this way you don't have to worry about ticks.  ;)

Of course presents from the Grandparents are always great!  Here is Gabriel with Corduroy (funnily a birthday gift from his first birthday from my parents that turned into his very special toy that he must have at bed and pretty much anywhere in the house) and Bullseye.  Our latest addition from Grandma and Grandpa Wood.  Thanks!
Just because she's so darn cute here is a little Lorelai...
Alright...back to the birthday boy.  What would a birthday be without balloons?????  I had these waiting for him outside of his door when he woke up from his nap.  He enjoyed throwing them up in the air over and over.  Oh, and giving each balloon a hug and saying "awwwww."

As a side note...Lorelai is terrified of balloons apparently.  Brian took her over by them so we could put them up before Paisley came back inside and destroyed them all...yeah, she screamed like we've never heard her scream before and it took quite a while to settle her down.  So, we tested it again later and it was definitely the balloons.  Tear fest.  :(  Poor thing.  But, Gabriel is all about the balloons, and it was his birthday after all.
We also got a package from Granddad today with some fun Toy Story toys in there.  Thanks!
And despite not being able to locate my cake decorating kit I made Gabriel a Garbage Truck cake.  :)  The tail lights, lights on top of the cab, and the headlight are all M&Ms...a Gabriel favorite.  He calls them "nin-nins." The wheels are chocolate mini-donuts.  I did the icing with ziploc bags.
My big 2 year old.  He did try to blow out the candle.  So proud.  But, he still won't eat cake.  Next year I'm just making this kid chocolate chip cookies.  :)
Notice him taking a little taste of icing?  Yeah. Not a fan...but we had extra "Nin-nins" so he got to have those with a little piece of cake just to see if he'd try more.  No luck.  But, he did learn how to use a napkin as he hates having gooey things on his hands (and on his "Nin-nins").
Time for presents from Mommy and Daddy.  In true Mommy form I couldn't not get him some things to open even though his big present was the Imagination Movers concert waaaaay back in February.

So I wheeled everything out in his new toy wheelbarrow.  Notice Paisley right in the middle of it all?  Probably waiting for a toy to munch on.  Lets see...so far she has eaten- 1 small Buzz Light Year, a medium sized Jessie Cowgirl head, a plastic toy nail, a bulldozer, Gabriel's toy Garbage truck wheel, a puzzle piece, chalk, part of a fire truck, and I'm sure a few more things.  Not to mention she's destroyed about 2/3's of her toys.  I think we got a goat disguised as a dog.  And while it may sound like we have stuff laying all over...we are CONSTANTLY picking up to avoid this, and yet she has like radar and knows as soon as a toy hits the ground.

Gabriel really enjoys his new Toy Story Lego Duplo block set.  Paisley does too...as she lies in wait for him to be distracted.
Unfortunately Gabriel still has an ear infection.  :(  Poor guy.  So we had to make a visit to a new pediatrician today.  I have to say...I miss Dr. Savrick.  They were great here...I just miss her and her demeanor.  She was so my type of lady.  But, all in all I think Gabriel had a good day.  And fingers crossed that we will be able to make a trip to the zoo to further celebrate Gabriel's birthday next week.  After all...Gabriel's Mommy believes in birthday MONTH!!!  :)  Lucky boy!
