Halloween 2015
This year Lorelai wanted to be Uni the Unicorn (which is a fantastic twist on children's fantasy). We went with yarn for the hair...which I think I'm glad I did. I can't quite make up my mind. The yarn we chose was flat but thick making her hood a little heavy. Overall the effect was great and I think she turned out super cute.
Gabriel's Toothless costume turned out amazingly well. But, he isn't feeling top notch and so he wasn't quite into his pictures as much as he usually is, so we missed out on a picture with wings extended and the Toothless's super awesome tail. He was thrilled with the costume and specifically asked that the wings be attached to the underside of the sleeves. I offered to make cool wings that came out of his back, but he said they would look like "fairy wings." Where's the trust?! ;)
I don't know what was going on with the black face paint. I could not get it to cover well at all. Lorelai's white paint went on wonderfully. I wanted to wash off the black...it was bothering him for a while, but he insisted that it stay. I think it sort of gives him the look of Bert the Chimney Sweep and he should burst into "Step in Time" at any moment. lol
Brian usually slaps some random stuff on at the last second, so the kids and I put a little thought into his costume for him this year. I got him a Superman shirt, my mom made him a Daily Planet press badge, and the kids shared their "Superman" glasses so he could go as Clark Kent. I think everyone had a good time out and about, but the kids are still wary of the scary houses. They went out a little bit later this year and I think being out in the dark increased the scare factor for them, and they kept asking Brian if the scary things walking around were other kids. lol
