A Squirrelly Christmas

This is how I imagine that my little squirrel friends spent their Christmas...singing carols while decorating the tree. We put out some Christmas corn out for them to enjoy. Matt and Angie got me some watercolor stuff. I used the paper and new brushes that they got me. It's nice to have so many brushes to choose from now! It makes things a lot easier! Thank you!!! :)

Christmas Parties

Okay...I'm getting really miffed that for whatever reason a bunch of my vertical pictures are not loading on to Blogger correctly. It's getting ridiculous. I haven't posted much because they aren't loading correctly. Anyway...this is us (sideways) on our way to a Christmas party at Perry's Steakhouse and Grille.Last night we had the ConocoPhillips New Hire Network party at the Horse Track. It was good times, and I picked a few winners for Brian.

Great Things in '07

We have had the opportunity to do some really great things this year. But, sometimes it's the small things that make your day. So here are a few things that I have loved this year.

1) Mini Williamsburg Pecan Pies. That's right...bite sized pecan pies from the best recipe ever. No pie can beat this colonial recipe!2) My daily French calendar. A little bit of Paris every day. : )
3) My Mac. Yep, I'm glad I made the switch overall.

Grace's Birthday and Thanksgiving

Sorry it has taken me so long to put these up. The 21 was Grace's "Birthday." This is the 4th year we've had her and we look forward to many years more. She was very excited to celebrate with everyone at Cherlyn's house the day before Thanksgiving. She got treats from Grandma and Great Grandma and 2 new "mattresses" for her beds from us. It was quite a large group for the Thanksgiving feast! Uncle Ron was in Africa though. He was greatly missed. Other exciting Thanksgiving happenings include the Aggies BTHO t.u. This means that I have won another bet with Steve two years running...and I'm feeling pretty good about that. : ) I'm happy to say that my Christmas shopping is done so all I have to do now is wrap. Woohoo!!! I'm excited about how on top of things I am this year. Good luck to everyone who is braving the Christmas madness. : )

Little Me?

This is my latest painting. I have been trying to paint things to go with themes posed by the blogs Illustration Friday and Monday Artday. This theme was scale. It made me think of a big brown bear looking at his little teddy bear on his way to bed. I worked hard at creating shadowing on the tree and the grass. I know I need a lot of work on my brush strokes, but I'm still pretty excited about my products. Enjoy!

Bally Wedding

Daniel Bally, a friend from college, got married this past weekend. Brian was the best man. The location was beautiful and the weather was fabulous. Everything seemed to go really well. Brian was a good best man...Daniel was really happy that Brian was willing to be his coaster (carry around his drink before the ceremony). : )Pretty fountain in the courtyard. This is where they served cocktails after the ceremony.

More Bally Wedding

As the best man Brian had the car decorating duties. Christine's family had purchased what was needed since Christine was very particular about what she wanted. The windshield says Mr. above the driver seat...Mrs. above the passenger seat...and Bally at the bottom of the windshield. (I did all of the paint pen drawings/writing on the car.)

I drew wedding bells and bows with drapey ribbons on the rear passenger windows. There were curly ribbon bows on the handles and mirrors, and just married window clings on the car.

I think it turned out well. There were vines of flowers to go on the top of the car rack. I'm happy with how my "drawings" turned out.

Rose

This is my latest watercolor. Although I hope to paint another tomorrow. This one is in need of a touch up and my "signature" but I am proud of it as it is only my second official painting. I'm having a lot of fun with the whole process. I am in need of some more supplies such as white paint. I am unable to lighten any of my colors currently which makes it hard to paint all of the ideas I have floating around in my brain. When we get a new scanner (ours is broken) I will post the drawing I made of Grace. : )

Balloon Watercolor

So, I am on the art committee for first grade at Jane Long Elementary and the other day I was at an art workshop. I realized that I was having a lot of fun doing the watercolor project, and decided to look into it. A good teacher friend of mine took art classes for a while and she helped me get all of the stuff I needed to begin watercoloring. : ) So far it has been fun. I have had a lot of comments made that I have a natural talent. Last night I made a birthday card for my friend, Leslie. I painted the balloon on the front and used my new Cricut machine to make the Happy Birthday on the inside.

A Weekend of Weddings

This was one jam packed weekend. Brian was a groomsman in our buddy, Jeremy's, wedding. So we drove to Sugarland many times this week/weekend. Then Brian's step brother got married on Sunday evening in Katy. It was a lot of driving, but both weddings were a blast.

The children were having fun sliding around on the floor, so our friend Luke decided to challenge them to a sliding contest. Something tells me he'll make a fun dad someday.

He actually slid pretty far...

The Happy Couple: Jeremy and Kari

We couldn't be happier for our good friends Jeremy and Kari. As I have mentioned previously (I think) Jeremy is the friend that introduced Brian and I 6 years ago. He is such a sweetie, and I couldn't ask for a kinder and more wonderful friend. Kari is just as sweet and we can't wait to spend more time with them as old married couples. : )Kari's dance with her dad was nice. Rick Howard (her dad) was an old college buddy of Brian's dad's. He was known as "Fish" Howard back then I believe. Isn't it crazy how connected we all are and often times don't even know it???

Jeremy's brother gave a wonderful toast to the couple.

We also got to meet up with our old pal Luke Addington and his wife Kristi. Kristi was great company while our husbands did the whole groomsman thing.

Navarre Wedding

There were some tasty appetizers at Stew's wedding. His bride, Conni, had the cool idea of flipping the vase upside down and gluing the tiles to them to create food centerpieces. Awesome!!! Cherlyn enjoys soft things...pajamas, blankets, and apparently rubbing rose petals on her face.

She also likes to share the wealth with others. They look so happy don't they? Or maybe Greg is smiling out of fear that his wife has lost it? ; ) Just kidding, Cherlyn.

Congrats, Stew and Conni Navarre!

This weekend Brian's step-brother, Stew, also got married. This was on Sunday night. It was quite the packed weekend. We had a great time visiting with everybody. Greg, Cherlyn, Janis, and Frank were just back from a long trip in Italy. And, Lindsay just got a town house! So much excitement.

Greg (Father of the Groom) and CherlynGreg and Cherlyn with Greg's parents, Rod and Dorothy. They were a hoot!!!
Here is Rod. How cute is he just hanging out on the steps?!

Janis and Cherlyn looking FAB-U-LOUS!!!

Lindsay and Brian...

September 11, 2007

Six years have past, but it never seems that long ago to me. I guess scary life moments like that always stay with you somewhere in the not too distant areas of the mind. So, take a moment this September 11th to honor someone you love. Call them up, send them a card for no reason other than you love them, send them flowers, make them dinner.... It doesn't matter who you pick or what you do. Just remember September 11th as a day not only for patriotism, but as a day for...family.
I love you, Dad!!!
